Dear friends of MOCN,
It's been a little over a week that we have celebrated the 5th reunion of the Middle East Netherlands Drivers. And as expected there was a good turnout again. The first guests arrived before 13.00 hours.
This time we had a fine location in the West of the Netherlands, at the premiss of model-maker Tekno in De Lier. A beautiful new building with a model museum with 8000 truck models and more.
Not to mention the "real old timers" on the ground floor, beautifully restored trucks. But also the "Beijing" 475 Volvo and the Volvo F12 of Jack den Hartogh could be admired. Jack den Hartogh and Leo de Leede surprised us with a nice story about the ride to Beijing that they had made (and completed) a few years ago. Jack and Leo, thank you very much for your contribution and stories about this "Beijing" ride.
It was mostly a reunion that well again was visited by many "old" acquaintances, but also "happy" new faces. Soon there was a good atmosphere and there was much talk about the times of the past. Photo albums were viewed and discussed by many.
Later that afternoon there was a special moment for our guests from Australia, namely Ron and Wilmy Kloprogge. There was a special truck model offered to the driver of this Mack F700. Ron was invited to receive this Mack F700, equipped with dual Flatbed trailer. Totally unexpected, so Ron was moved and also a little surprised when he got this model handed over. It was made the day before by a model builder, who did a very good job with this fine model.
My thanks go to Robbert and his friends at Tekno that made this Mack F700 model possible. And for model-lovers, this model will go in production and of course this can be ordered through our website.
Let me also thank those who donated the presents that we used for the lottery. Many beautiful large and smaller items that have found a new owner. The revenues of this lottery will used to give a kid (and eventually their family) a nice day. Suggestions can be made via PB.
A special word of thanks for Tekno, particularly Martin, David, Sebastian but also all others who have contributed to the success of this reunion very warmly for their hospitality. Great!!! Also to the people of the catering. From begin to the end, we were very well taken care of. Plenty of fluids and a well-stocked BBQ. I think everyone has enjoyed it.
Around 22.00 hours the reunion came to an end and everyone left for home, hotel and B & B.
It was a beautiful day. Some had a small afterparty at Meindert's camper, a great end of a wonderful day.
Do we continu? Yes. And as it stands now it will be next year. Where? We keep that a secret for this moment. But follow our website and/or Facebook. So we probably meet again on the first Saturday in June.
At last but not least I want to thank everyone for his or her contribution to this reunion.
If you enjoyed it, I did also.
With best regards,
Ger van Rens.
